We proudly share the history that have brought us to where we are today.
On July 24, 1874, the first savings banks were established in Baku.

At the beginning of the new century, the number of savings banks increased rapidly and their activities expanded further started.

In 1988, "savings banks" became the Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan of the USSR Savings Bank.
Shortly after our independence, on February 11, 1992, at the base of that bank, the Republic of Azerbaijan Savings Bank was formed.
By order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 21, 2000 No. "40s" Deposit As a result of the merger of the Bank, Azerbaijan Agrarian-Industrial Bank and Azerbaijan Industrial-Investment Bank Azerbaijan United Universal Joint Stock Bank (BUSBank) was established.
On December 29, 2004, at the extraordinary meeting of bank shareholders, "BUSBank" it was decided to change the name and give the bank the name "Kapital Bank". Thus, the country's first bank began to operate under its current name.

Kapital Bank within the framework of international cooperation with the American Bankers Association (American Bankers Association) elected member.
Following its launch, the Birbank app experienced explosive growth, reaching nearly half a million users in its inaugural year. Its success was quickly recognized on the global stage when "International Finance" magazine of GB awarded it the prestigious title of "Most innovative mobile bank." This era of innovation was also marked by the establishment of our Academy of Human Capital.

This period marked a major achievement in our expansion with the launch of our 100th branch, located in Masalli. Complementing our physical growth, our digital leadership was affirmed when Birbank was named "Mobile Application of the Year" at the NETTY awards.
Kapital Bank installed the first ATM and payment terminal in the liberated city of Shusha.
Birbank was updated and became the country's first digital bank.
BirKart product was rebranded and became Birbank card. Meanwhile in the same year, the number of ATMs in the country reached 1000.
The first bank in our country to be awarded the "Great Place To Work" certificate was selected. It was the first bank to apply the concept of "green banking" in our country.
In our 150th year, we continued to build for the future. A significant achievement was the opening of new Kapital Bank branches in Lachin, Zangilan, and Khankendi. We also pushed the boundaries of innovation by introducing a new AI-powered banking assistant. Our thriving workplace culture was once again honored, earning us the "Great Place To Work" certification for the second year in a row, all while celebrating a century and a half of service.
