51 kg of used batteries collected from the head office of Kapital Bank

The Red Hearts Foundation and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, within the framework of the joint project “Return batteries – protect nature”, have once again organized the collection and transfer of used electric batteries. This time, a total of 51 kg of used batteries were collected from the head office of Kapital Bank with the participation of volunteers and handed over to the “Waste Management Center” LLC.

The main objective of the project, which has been implemented since May 1, 2022, is to prevent the negative environmental and health impacts of used batteries, as well as to ensure their proper sorting and safe disposal under specialized conditions.

Within the framework of the project, more than 500 collection points have been established in Baku and the regions of the country, including government institutions, companies, supermarket chains, educational institutions, banks, and hotels. Over the past four years, more than 4 tons of used batteries have been collected through these collection points.

The “Return batteries – protect nature” project not only raises awareness about environmental protection but also promotes environmental responsibility and the development of proper waste management practices in society. Within the project, citizens can contribute to environmental protection by handing in used batteries at designated collection points.

“Red Hearts” was founded in December 2019 at the initiative of Kapital Bank employees. The organization, which operates as a foundation from 2020, mainly contributes to the formation of a culture of philanthropy in our country.
