Solidarity marathon “Sıfır Tullantı” kicks off

On the occasion of World Environment Day, observed on June 5, the 2026 “Sıfır Tullantı” (Zero Waste) Solidarity marathon was launched in Mingachevir. The initiative is being implemented by Red Hearts Foundation and Kapital Bank in partnership with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

During the clean-up campaign held along the Mingachevir shoreline, a total of 1 346 kilograms of household waste was collected and properly disposed of. Twenty-four employees from the bank’s branches in Mingachevir, Agdash, Ujar, and Kurdamir voluntarily joined the initiative to help clean the coastal areas.

The primary objective of the campaign is to draw attention to the importance of proper waste management and maintaining a clean environment, while also increasing public awareness of the ecological condition of coastal areas.

Yusif Poladov, President of Red Hearts Foundation, noted that the “Sıfır Tullantı” Solidarity marathon, launched by Red Hearts Foundation and Kapital Bank as part of the “Year of solidarity for a green world” declared by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in 2024, has already evolved into a sustainable environmental initiative. He emphasized that the project aims to strengthen environmental awareness, promote responsible behavior, and encourage citizens to take a more active role in protecting nature.

The marathon envisages the organization of clean-up activities in coastal, mountainous, and forest areas, the promotion of public awareness on waste-related issues, and the encouragement of sustainable lifestyles. The initiative is planned to continue across various regions of the country throughout 2026.

Red Hearts was founded in December 2019 at the initiative of Kapital Bank employees. The organization, which operates as a foundation from 2020, mainly contributes to the formation of a culture of philanthropy in our country.
